Marc Dalessio is a classically trained naturalistic artist who specializes in plein-air painting. Born in Los Angeles in 1972, he spent four years in the Fiji Islands as a young boy where his father was a regional Peace Corps director. The beauty of the islands and his native California instilled in him a deep love of the natural world.
Dalessio graduated Phi Beta Kappa in fine art from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He then moved to Italy and apprenticed as a portraitist for four years under Charles H. Cecil at his Florence atelier, which incorporates a rigorous drawing and painting curriculum similar to the academies of 19th-century Europe. After receiving a full scholarship at Cecil Studios, Dalessio taught portraiture and landscape painting at the school. Now painting and conducting workshops in the U.S. and Europe, he believes that finding inspiration in the world around us is an important step toward building an environmentally sustainable future for humanity.
