Andrew WerthAndrew Werth holds degrees in computer engineering and information networking from Carnegie Mellon University. He studied art in New York City at the School of Visual Arts, The New School and the Art Students League. He combines this background with a strong interest in psychology to inform his conceptual abstract paintings. Werth notes that mental “strange loops” are recurrent themes in his work and provide a structure to explore perceptual effects and the interaction of color. To create his paintings, he uses a slow, deliberate process that consists of thousands of individual brushstrokes. His aim is to create paintings where viewers want to keep looking, always finding something new to stimulate the eye and the mind.
